SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Charges were dropped against two people arrested in connection to a carjacking and stunning crash down the Sanchez Street Stairs in San Francisco, prosecutors said Friday. The Saturday afternoon crash was captured on video as a stolen car plummeted and flipped down the staircase before it landed on top of a tree. Good Samaritans helped five people escape from the mangled, up-side-down car. All five people then fled from the crash scene before emergency crews arrived, surveillance video shows. Two San Francisco residents, Kevin Nelson, 36, and Jennifer Bonham 31, were arrested Tuesday and booked into jail. According to jail records, police believe Bonham was driving when the dramatic crash unfolded."The charges against Ms. Bonham and Mr. Nelson have been discharged at this time pending further investigation and witness unavailability," the San Francisco District Attorney's Office told KRON4 on Friday. ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta police renewed calls Friday for the public’s help to try to solve the gruesome stabbing death of a woman who was walking her dog at a popular park two years ago, a killing that stoked fear across the city.Katherine Janness, 40, was found just inside an entrance to Piedmont Park around 1 a.m. on July 28, 2021. She had been stabbed multiple times, and her dog, Bowie, was found nearby also stabbed to death.Police still do not have a suspect. “You may not have even been in the park that night, but if you’ve heard or saw anything that seems suspicious or just off, please notify us,” Lt. DENVER (KDVR) -- A local nonprofit is using the summer months to help out seniors in the metro paint their homes. It's part of Brothers Redevelopment's Paint-A-Thon that runs through the spring and summer months, where volunteers get together to paint the homes of seniors who otherwise couldn't get it done physically or financially. Those volunteering on Friday were with Huntington National Bank. This is part of the company's $40 billion Strategic Community Plan which reflects the bank’s commitment to improve the economic vitality, financial security and sustainable future for those it serves.The nonprofit was able to auction off a signed Nuggets basketball shortly after the team took home the championship.
